Pricing engine

How Mix & Save works

Mixmi's pricing engine, explained with real numbers.

Mixmi is built around compositional products: buyers can combine multiple artworks on one piece, front and back. Mix & Save is the pricing engine that keeps this fair for both buyers and artists.

The principle: A buyer who composes a product with three artworks shouldn't pay three full art prices. The art pool adjusts — but every artwork is protected by its own floor (50% of its set price), so artists are never short-changed.

Solo sale

When a buyer purchases a product with only your artwork on it, you earn your full set price minus the platform fee.

Example: ₱500 set price, sold via Discover (25% fee)

Just your artwork on the product.

  • Art pool: ₱500
  • Your platform fee: ₱125
  • You earn₱375

How Mix & Save adjusts the pool

When 2+ artworks are composed onto one product:

  1. 1The highest-priced artwork is the anchor. It starts at its full set price.
  2. 2Each additional artwork joins the pool at its own floor (50% of its set price).
  3. 3The anchor's contribution decreases by the floor amount of each new artwork — but only as far as the math requires. The anchor doesn't auto-drop. It stays as high as it can.
  4. 4If enough artworks are added that the anchor's deductions would exceed (set price − floor), the anchor settles at its own floor. After that, every additional artwork adds directly at its own floor with no further deduction.
  5. 5No artwork ever pays out below its own floor.

When the anchor stays high (most common case)

Your ₱500 + another artist's ₱200, sold via Discover (25%).

Two-artwork composite, anchor well above floor

Anchor (your A) starts at ₱500. Their B joins at floor ₱100. A absorbs B's floor: A's contribution = ₱500 − ₱100 = ₱400. A's floor is ₱250, so A is still well above floor.

  • Art pool: ₱500 (you ₱400 + them ₱100)
  • Total platform fee: ₱125
  • Your share: ₱125 × (400/500) = ₱100
  • Their share: ₱125 × (100/500) = ₱25
  • You earn₱300
  • They earn₱75

The higher-priced artist stays close to a solo sale's earnings; the lower-priced artist earns at their floor. Both reach buyers neither could reach alone.

High-priced artwork in a big composite

Your ₱2000 + 3 others at set prices ₱200, ₱400, ₱600 (floors ₱100, ₱200, ₱300). Sold via Discover (25%).

Premium anchor stays close to full earnings

Anchor (your A) starts at ₱2000. A's floor is ₱1000. Total deductions from B + C + D: ₱100 + ₱200 + ₱300 = ₱600. A absorbs all of it: A's contribution = ₱2000 − ₱600 = ₱1400. (Still well above A's floor of ₱1000.)

  • Art pool: ₱2000 (A ₱1400 + B ₱100 + C ₱200 + D ₱300)
  • Total platform fee: ₱500
  • Your share: ₱500 × (1400/2000) = ₱350
  • B earns ₱100 − ₱25 = ₱75
  • C earns ₱200 − ₱50 = ₱150
  • D earns ₱300 − ₱75 = ₱225
  • You earn₱1050

Notice: a premium-priced artwork doesn't get auto-clamped to floor just because other artworks join. It only hits floor if cumulative deductions actually push it there.

When the anchor reaches its floor

If enough artworks are added that deductions exceed what the anchor can absorb, the anchor settles at its own floor — and any further artworks add directly to the pool at their own floor.

Your ₱500 + ₱200 + ₱300 + ₱400 (all yours), via Discover (25%)

Anchor (A) starts at ₱500. Floor: ₱250. Maximum absorbable: ₱250.

  • B joins at floor ₱100. A absorbs: ₱500 − ₱100 = ₱400.
  • C joins at floor ₱150. A absorbs: ₱400 − ₱150 = ₱250. A is now at floor.
  • D joins at floor ₱200. A is at floor and can't absorb. D adds directly. Pool grows by ₱200.
  • Art pool: ₱700 (A ₱250 + B ₱100 + C ₱150 + D ₱200)
  • Total platform fee: ₱175
  • Your share (all your work): ₱175 (you keep the full pool minus full fee)
  • You earn₱525

You decide who can mix with your art

Every artwork you upload is set to Open mode by default — buyers can compose it with any other artist's work. You can switch any artwork to Own-only anytime.

Open mode

Wider reach. Your art can appear in compositions with other artists. Earnings are split proportionally based on each artwork's contribution to the pool when this happens.

Own-only mode

Keeps your art composing only with your own catalog. Buyers can still mix multiple of your artworks on one product — Mix & Save still applies — but you keep all the earnings because all the work is yours.

Switch per artwork. Change your mind anytime. New mode applies to future orders only.

Why Mix & Save exists

Buyers love variety. Artists need fair pay. Mix & Save lets buyers compose unique products without overpaying for stacked art, while protecting every artist's per-artwork minimum at 50% of their set price. The cascade rewards confident pricing — your highest-priced artworks stay closest to full earnings, while smaller artworks earn at their floor as the trade-off for wider exposure.
